Children up to the age of 4 ride trains for free. However, it is important to generate a ticket with a 100% discount. These are not all the promotions you can enjoy when travelling as a family:

• Large Family Card - entitles you to an additional 30% discount (in addition to the statutory 37% discount) on tickets purchased. It can be used if at least two card holders travel together;
• Family Ticket - for a group of 2-5 people, including at least one child under 16 years of age. In this case, each person travelling together will receive a discount of 30%.

Facilities for families with children on trains

To make the journey as comfortable as possible for both child and parent, many trains have special compartments for families with children. So if you are planning a trip, it is worth buying your ticket in advance, as these seats sell out very quickly.

On IC and EIP trains, you will find baby changing facilities for small children. Parents can also carry a pram for free - no folding required. On many trains, WARS offers a children's menu and every parent can brew a bottle for milk or juice free of charge. And heat up your own meal!

It is up to us, the parents, to decide how and whether a train journey turns into an exciting and enjoyable adventure. It is worth preparing for it. If we have the time, we can take a short trip for the first time and see how our child will behave. We will also take note of what is worthwhile and how to pack.

The undoubted advantage of trains is that we can be around the child all the time and take our time, rather than having to drive or navigate. Therefore, in addition to the obvious things like books, colouring books, a tablet with headphones or favourite toys, we can use this time to play together or play developmental games.
